An integral part of the European itinerary labelled "Eurovelo 6: Atlantic Ocean - Black Sea", the department's Blue Pathway adds cycling tourism possibilities in Burgundy, primarily over the network of towpaths running along the Saône River, between Mâcon and Heuillez-sur-Saône in the neighbouring Côte-d'Or department (180-km distance). In Saône-&-Loire, this itinerary covers some 100 km.

At present, 2 segments have been opened to cyclists:
From Mâcon to Fleurville: 17 km,
From Sassenay to Verdun-sur-le-Doubs: 16 km.

The type of path surfacing, made of either a double coating or sanded finish (with the exception of entries into urban areas, where the path has been asphalted) are not suitable for roller-skating.
