Hiking possibilities abound in Southern Burgundy.

700 km of National Hiking trails are spread over the north-south corridor as well as the north-west quadrant of the Saône-&-Loire department.

These designated trails consist of:
- 10 itineraries belonging to the National Network and marked in white and red (GR3, 7, 13, 59, 131, 76, 76A, 76C, 76D and 137),
- 2 local paths marked in yellow and red: the "Tour du Morvan" through the Morvan Park and "Au fil des vignes et vallées" through vineyards and valleys.

During your walks, be sure to admire the pastureland, forests and valleys from spectacular vista points.

The majority of these sites contain parking lots, orientation panels and fully-equipped picnic grounds.

In the AUTUN-MORVAN Region:
- Haut-Folin (901 metres: highest point)
- Mont Beuvray (809 metres)
- "Les Rochers du Carnaval" at Uchon (684 metres)
- The Liberation Cross in Autun
In the BURGUNDY BRESSE Region:
- Mont Février in Champagnat (645 metres)
In the CHALONNAIS Region:
- Mont de Sène, also called "Les Trois Croix" in Dezize-les-Maranges (521 metres)
- Mont de Rome Château, to the south of Dezize-les-Maranges (547 metres)
- Mont-Avril, near Jambles, Moroges and Saint-Désert (421 metres)
In the CHAROLAIS-BRIONNAIS Region:
- Mont Saint-Vincent (603 metres)
- Signal de Mont (472 metres)
- Mont-Dardon in Uxeau (509 metres)
- Montagne de Dun in Saint-Racho (720 metres)
- Butte de Suin (593 metres)
- Mont-Botey in Beaubery (561 metres)
- Hilltop geographic display panel on the D989 highway between Sainte-Foy and Saint-Christophe-en-Brionnais
In the MACONNAIS-CLUNISOIS Region:
- "Signal de la Mère Boitier" in Tramayes (758 metres)
- Mont-Saint-Cyr in Montmelard (771 metres)
- Roche de Solutré (493 metres)
- Roche de Vergisson (485 metres)
- Mont-Saint-Romain in Blanot (579 metres)
- Roche Coche in Berzé-la-Ville (455 metres)
- Saint-Amour-Bellevue, orientation panel located near the Madonna statue, along the route du Plâtre Durand in the middle of the village (309 metres)
- Saint-Vérand, orientation panel in the village (elevation not indicated)
- Pruzilly, orientation panel located in the village (450 metres)

 

 

The largest forest within the Saône-&-Loire department is called Planoise (comprising 2,500 ha) on the highway leading to Autun
